PROGRAM DETAILS
Sessions
Camp JORI holds two 3 1/2 week sessions each summer:
Trip One and Trip Two. The program is for campers
in grades two through eight.
Two Week Mini-sessions
For first time campers, there is the possibility of
going for a two-week mini-session. Campers enjoy a
shorter camping experience that provides an introduction
to camp life. Campers are welcome to continue their stay
if space permits. Space is limited for this
program. Very often, the camper loves the
experience, and stays on.
Day Camp
For the younger camper (ages 6 through 9) who is ready for many of the
components of a camping experience, but not quite ready
for staying overnight, we have the Camp JORI Day Camp.
The day campers enjoy the activities and the camaraderie of
the communal dining room at lunchtime (which includes
learning the JORI songs and cheers). The day camp holds
four sessions on weekdays during the season. Each
Wednesday night is an optional overnight for day-campers
at no additional cost. This is a great opportunity
for JORI’s youngest campers to have a taste of the
overnight experience.
LIT program
For ninth and tenth graders, Camp JORI has the LIT
(Leader-in-Training) Program. Designed for this
age group, the older campers enjoy additional choice in their
activities, a weekly field trip, an opportunity to share
skills with younger campers and the chance to perform
community service.
Reaching Up
Reaching Up is an inclusive program that makes Jewish
camping accessible to children with special needs.
Through real life experiences, the camper expands
language and communications. The camping
experience offers the opportunity to improve social
skills, develop friendships, and expand self-awareness.
Our campers feel energized and have lasting memories
through our structured day and evening programming.
The program has credentialed adult professionals and our
counselors are trained and well-supervised
in a supported camp environment.

Campers enjoy a well-balanced schedule that includes
team sports, arts and crafts, waterfront, swimming, and
theatre arts activities. There are daily choices, varied
evening activities and an emphasis on community living
and gaining personal independence in a setting guided by
Jewish ethical values.

Camp JORI sits on over 72 acres of pristine woodland, on
the largest lake in Rhode Island with an exceptional
waterfront for boating and fishing, with woodland paths
and pine groves. The site is surrounded by Nature
Conservancy protected land.
The buildings are all state-of-the-art from the large
dining hall with a professional kitchen; the rec hall
which can accommodate all of the campers at one time;
the theatre/auditorium/sanctuary; the cabins with
showers and all single beds for sleeping; the LIT
village for the older campers; the infirmary/health
center which is a separate building; the playing fields
for baseball/softball, soccer, basketball; the tennis
courts; the two pools with slides and a fountain; nature
trails, and everything to make Camp JORI among the
finest of environments. Security is an important
part of our program.
Camp JORI employs
well-trained and screened security staff each summer,
who patrol the area and are available 24-hours a day.
When you come into camp you are welcomed at the visitor
center. And then you begin the JORI experience. |
